Different southern maryland HVAC, air conditioning, and heating contractors offering you completely different options and solutions?
Feel like everyone just sees you as a quick buck?
They probably do. I was employed by one of the southern maryland area's perceivably best companies for nearly a decade. I watched the company change from an organization that wanted to offer the best it possibly could at the fairest price to a group of salesmen that cared about learning new technology only enough to sell it. There are many forces at work that have caused the situation. I won't get into the details here; but the bottom line is greed, ignorance and laziness have made it virtually impossible to get outstanding system design or service.
The fact of the matter is that the people that are intelligent enough to make certain that you get the most out of your HVAC dollar are more than likely not employed by your local heating and air conditioning company; and if they are, they have been trained to sell the product with the highest profit margin. So what's someone to do? Talk to someone you know that has been in the industry for at least 5 years and has been involved in the load calculation process, equipment specification, and has knowledge about new technologies that are affordable. I've honesly only ever met a couple people who I felt had the analytical ability paired with the right experience and knowledge needed to guide someone in the right direction. Maybe you're lucky enough to know someone like this who can help you out. If not, feel free to drop me a line @ nicolae@somdsolar.com. I may be able to help you out. If you've got a set of accurate plans and specifications for a house or other building, I can design an HVAC system that works well with your budget and expectations. I do my best to stay abreast of emerging technologies and assist folks with selecting equipment that is upgradable and interchangable with future forseeable upgrades. If you've got different contractors quoting you different tonnages on the same building, I can help you decide which one is more accurate and honest. I can also provide you with 3d renderings of the duct system to be installed by the contractor of your choice. You can rest assured that my oppinions are honest and unbiased. As of this writing I am not employed by any local HVAC companies. My most recent employment experience proved that being honest with customers is far more rewarding and valuable than being loyal to a company anyway.
Signs that getting in touch with me is a great idea:
- Noone has asked you how the building is oriented (which direction it faces), or asked for a "plat"
- your HVAC contractor doesn't tell you how much energy you can save and how much less money you can spend on your air conditioning equipment by installing low-e windows
- your air conditioning contractor says that a load calculation or manual j isn't needed
- without much time with the contractor you are offered what I call the "southern maryland special", a heat pump with gas backup
- The salesman that comes to visit you is more interested in connecting with you on a personal level than gathering the necessary information about your project
- You feel as though you've just gotten in line for an HVAC system at the local fast food joint and one size fits all
- You are offered expensive "SEER upgrades", but no other options are offered to boost the overall system efficiency
Hope this info helps you out!
